Getting Started
PageSwipe turns your physical bookshelf into a connected digital library. Scan the books you own, search your shelves, share what is available, lend with confidence, and discover books through friends, clubs, authors, and publishers.
Think of it as the bridge between the books already on real shelves and the people who should be reading them next.
Yes. PageSwipe is free to download and use. The reader product includes:
- Full library cataloguing
- RapidScan barcode scanning
- Create and join book clubs
- Public/private library sharing
- Ask-to-borrow requests
- Create collections
- Discovery and shared browsing
PageSwipe is free because every scanned shelf, shared library, club, borrow request, and author page makes the reading network more useful.
Creating an account is quick and easy:
- On iOS: Download PageSwipe from the App Store and tap "Get Started." You can sign up with your Apple ID, Google account, or email.
- On Web: Visit our web app and click "Get Started." Sign up with Google or your email address.
Your account syncs automatically across all your devices, so you can seamlessly switch between your phone and computer.
PageSwipe is currently available on:
- iOS: iPhone and iPad running iOS 16 or later
- Web: Any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge)
An Android app is on our roadmap. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it launches!
You can browse marketing pages without an account, but the product works best with a free account. With an account you can:
- Scan and save books to your library
- Create and join book clubs
- Sync your data across devices
- Share your public or private library
- Send and receive borrow requests
Discovery & Sharing
Discovery in PageSwipe starts with real libraries and real people. You can browse books from friends, clubs, authors, publishers, and your own shared network. You can:
- Save books you want to read later
- Recommend books to a club or friend
- Request to borrow books from shared libraries
- Open book details to see metadata, ownership, and availability
Recommendations matter, but the relaunch focus is trust: books from people and communities you actually care about.
Yes. Swipe discovery can still help you quickly sort recommendations, but it is no longer the whole product. PageSwipe is now centered on your physical library, shared shelves, clubs, borrowing, and people-powered discovery.
When swipe controls appear, right means save or show interest, and left means skip.
PageSwipe learns from several signals:
- Books you scan or add to your library
- Books you save, recommend, borrow, or mark as read
- Books your clubs discuss or vote on
- Optional preference signals such as genres, authors, and skipped recommendations
The strongest signal is your library graph: what you own, what your people own, and what your clubs are actively reading.
Yes. You can search directly for:
- Book titles
- Author names
- ISBN numbers
Use search when you know the book you want, or RapidScan when the book is physically in front of you.
There are several ways to add books:
- RapidScan barcodes from your physical shelves
- Search for a title, author, or ISBN
- Save a book from a shared library or club
- Add manually when metadata is missing or unusual
Once added, books can be marked as owned, reading, finished, shared, or available to lend.
Book Clubs
Book clubs in PageSwipe are groups where readers turn shared libraries into shared decisions. Each club features:
- A shared space for recommendations and club picks
- Progress tracking for current reads
- A suggestion queue where members can propose future reads
- Voting on the next book to read
- Activity showing member updates and book activity
Creating and joining clubs is free because clubs help the reading network grow.
Creating a book club takes just a minute:
- Go to the Book Clubs tab
- Tap "Create New Club"
- Enter a name for your club
- Optionally add a description and choose a cover image
- Share the invite code with friends!
Club creation is free. Future reader-facing club tools should stay free during the relaunch because clubs create the network.
To join an existing book club, you'll need an invite code from the club admin. Then:
- Go to the Book Clubs tab
- Tap "Join Club"
- Enter the 6-character invite code
- You're in! You'll see the club's current book and can start tracking your progress.
No, book clubs are completely private by default. Only people with the invite code can join and see the club's content. Book clubs are not searchable or publicly listed.
Club admins can regenerate the invite code at any time if needed, which will invalidate the old code.
Club members can:
- See the current book and track their reading progress
- View other members' progress (percentage complete)
- Suggest books for the club to read next
- Vote on book suggestions
- See club activity and updates
Club creation and participation are free because clubs are one of the main ways readers bring more readers into PageSwipe.
My Books / My Library
"My Books" is your personal library inside PageSwipe. It starts with the books you own and can also include books you want to read, are reading now, or have finished.
- Owned: Books on your physical shelves
- Want to Read: Books you want to save for later
- Currently Reading: Books you are actively reading
- Finished: Completed books and reading history
The relaunch focus is the owned library: scan what is physically on your shelves, then share, lend, and discover through that graph.
Use RapidScan to quickly add physical books:
- Open RapidScan from the app dashboard or library
- Point your camera at the book's ISBN barcode (usually on the back cover)
- Keep scanning books continuously
- PageSwipe looks up book details and adds them to your library
- Review and clean up anything with missing metadata
This is built for home libraries, collectors, club shelves, and anyone with a pile of books they have never properly catalogued.
No. Full library cataloguing is free. You can scan and add your physical books without an arbitrary cap.
Yes. Sharing and borrow requests are part of the free reader product. Future lending history and reminder tools should stay free during the relaunch because lending creates the network.
Business Model
Yes. PageSwipe is a free platform for readers and authors. The core product stays open because growth depends on readers and writers creating useful network objects together:
- Readers can scan, catalogue, share, lend, discover, create collections, and create or join clubs.
- Authors can publish book pages, start launch communities, and give readers a place to gather around a book.
- Visitors can view public library, club, and book pages with low friction from search or shared links.
The relaunch removes reader subscriptions and functional paywalls from the web product.
PageSwipe makes money through book-native advertising and publishing partnerships after the network reaches meaningful scale. That means sponsored book launches, author campaigns, publisher catalogue campaigns, and placement opportunities that belong inside a reading context.
These are not generic banner ads. The standard is simple: if a placement does not help readers discover a relevant book, author, club, or launch, it does not belong in PageSwipe.
Yes. Authors can publish book pages and build launch communities for free. PageSwipe wants writers and readers in the same network, not separated by a paywall before the marketplace has earned its shape.
Future paid advertiser products will be campaign products for authors and publishers who want extra reach, not a charge for basic participation.
No. The relaunch model removes reader subscriptions and paid reader tiers. The iOS app is moving to a free App Store model, and the web product is being aligned around the same free-platform principle.
Readers should be able to build a complete connected library without asking whether a feature is locked behind checkout.
Privacy & Data
Yes, your privacy is our priority. By default:
- Your reading list and library are private to you
- Your swipe history is never shared
- We never sell your personal data to third parties
- Book club activity is only visible to club members
We only use your reading data to improve your personalized recommendations and never for advertising purposes.
Only in limited, controlled situations:
- Book clubs: Club members can see your progress on the club's current book
- Everything else: Private by default
You have full control over what you share. You can leave any book club at any time if you no longer want to share progress with that group.
You can delete your account at any time:
- Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account
- Confirm your decision
- Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
Please note: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You'll lose your reading history, library, and club memberships.
